MAJOR NEW BOOK LAUNCH
MSR Newsgroup will be heavily involved with the launch of the highly acclaimed new book ‘BRIAN AND PETER A RIGHT PAIR’ 21 years with Clough and Taylor. The book written by Maurice Edwards who was Clough and Taylors Chief Scout and trusted friend for almost 20 years will be on sale in most MSR stores from March 2010.
“It will certainly be one of the biggest book launches in 2010 and we will be at the forefront of it” said MSR’s Managing Director Mick Garton.
“We are in talks with the publisher at the moment regarding book signings and numbers etc so watch this space. The book will cover both their time at Derby and Forest as well as many until now untold stories and will give Peter Taylor’s own character and talents equal billing to Clough’s.”
A SUCCESSFUL CHRISTMAS
Book signings were at the forefront for MSR over the festive season and a number of appearances by Forest legend Kenny Burns promoting his new book ‘No Ifs or Butts’ helped boost sales at the newsagents and sporting memorabilia chain. Burns appeared at MSR’s Arnold, Victoria Centre, Westfield Centre Derby and Westfield Centre Nottingham branches and even at the company’ s Louth Store taking along the European Cup with him.
MSR also had good sales of the other new Forest Book ‘The Illustrated History of Nottingham Forest’ signed copies of both books and Duncan McKenzies ‘Last of The Fancy Dans’ are still available in selected stores.

WEBB & HODGE ON THE BALL FOR MSR
MSR held the first city centre book signing session with former Forest stars Neil Webb and Steve Hodge at the Broadmarsh shopping centre.
Central TV, Trent FM and the Nottingham Evening Post turned up as Neil Webb launched his new book “Wembley again” which features the story of the second great side Brian Clough built at Nottingham Forest.
MSR were delighted with the session with sales beating those of the afternoon session when the two stars appeared at WH Smiths.
“It was a major coup for us getting the first signing session in town and it proved successful” said an MSR spokesman.
LARRY PROVES A HUGE HIT AT MSR
Former Nottingham Forest double winning European cup legend Larry Lloyd turned up a few minutes late for his book signing at Carlton’s main sponsors MSR Newsgroup’s Front Street, Arnold store and found customers queuing out of the door waiting for the big man.
He quickly apologised and said he was late as he had often been in his career with tackles with brought laughter from the waiting public.
He then went on to sign numerous memorabilia for customers as well as 200 copies of his excellent autobiography ‘Hard man, hard game.”
Close on half those copies were sold immediately in what proved an excellent coup for the newsagents chain.
Remaining copies have gone on sale throughout other MSR stores.
Lloyd was delighted with the turnout and said how it still amazed him how loyal Forest fans had remained despite the fact they are now plying their trade in league one.
He also spoke about the two great managers he played under Bill Shankly and Brian Clough and said that in many ways “They were similar, keeping the game simple and letting each man know his responsibilities to the team.”
It was certainly a winning formula although Lloyd believes a appointing an Italian coach as England manager is not the way forward “English or British for me” said Lloyd.
Of that he was clear and It was also clear that the people of Nottingham still have an immense soft spot for a true Forest legend; it was nice to have him back.
